Devotional Day 3 - Unity, the Tongue, and the Pursuit of Peace
𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥: Peter calls believers to be harmonious, sympathetic, kind-hearted, and humble. He then turns immediately to the danger of the tongue, warning that the one who desires to see good days must keep his lips from speaking deceit. In the body of Christ, few things cause more damage than careless words. Gossip dressed as concern is still gossip. Criticism dressed as discernment is still division. The servant of God is called to pursue peace with intention and discipline. This is not passivity. It is the active, deliberate choice to build up rather than tear down, to reconcile rather than inflame.
𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Have you recently spoken words that wounded rather than healed? What does genuine repentance and restoration look like in that situation?
𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Before speaking today about any person or situation, pause and ask: is this true, is this necessary, and does it build up the body of Christ?
