Living for the Will of God, Not the Desires of the Flesh
𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹: The transformation that salvation produces is not cosmetic. It reaches into the deepest habits, appetites, and loyalties of a person's life. Those who once pursued sensuality, drunkenness, and the approval of the world find, by the grace of God, that those appetites begin to lose their grip. This does not happen automatically or without struggle. It happens through deliberate surrender, through the daily decision to arm yourself with the same purpose Christ carried to the cross, namely, the willingness to suffer in the flesh rather than sin against God. The will of God, known through the Word of God, becomes the governing principle of every decision. This is not a burden. It is the greatest freedom a person can know.
𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: In what specific area of your life are the desires of the flesh most actively competing with the will of God, and what practical step of surrender have you been avoiding?
𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Read 1 Peter 4:7-11 again slowly. Select one of the commands in that passage, whether fervent love, hospitality, or serving in God's strength, and commit to a specific and measurable act of obedience in that area before the week is finished. Do it without announcing it to others, and offer it to God as an act of worship.
