The Hope That Demands an Explanation

Colossians 4:5-6 instructs believers to walk wisely toward those outside the faith, making the most of every opportunity, and ensuring that their speech is always gracious and seasoned with salt, prepared to give a fitting answer to every person.

𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹: The defense of the Christian faith is not primarily an intellectual exercise. It is a life lived so consistently, so graciously, and so rooted in genuine hope that others are compelled to ask what makes you different. When grief does not destroy you, when failure does not define you, when loss does not consume you, the watching world notices. The apologia, the defense of the faith, begins long before you open your mouth. It begins in the way you treat your spouse, the patience you show your children, the honesty you bring to your work, and the kindness you extend to those who have wronged you. Live in such a way that the question becomes inevitable.

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: If someone who knew you well were to describe the hope they observe in your life, what would they say? Would they have enough evidence to make that observation?

𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: This week, look for one natural opportunity to verbally share the reason for your hope with someone who has observed your life. Prepare what you would say in advance, keeping it honest, personal, and rooted in what Christ has done for you.
