Devotional Day 1 - The Cup We're Called to Drink

When Jesus told His disciples He must suffer, Peter rebuked Himβtrying to prevent the very purpose for which Christ came. Like Peter, we sometimes resist God's plan when it involves suffering. Jesus asked, "Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?" This question reveals profound obedience.
God's purposes often include valleys we'd rather avoid. The cup may contain disappointment, loss, or misunderstanding. Yet Jesus teaches us that faithful obedience means accepting what the Father allows, trusting His greater plan. Today, ask yourself: Am I resisting a difficult season God has permitted? Surrender isn't weaknessβit's recognizing that God's wisdom surpasses our comfort. Drink your cup with the confidence that resurrection follows crucifixion.
